- Open Windows Live Mail
- On the Menu bar at the top of the Window, click on Tools
- Click on Accounts
- Click on your VCN account name to highlight the account under Mail
- Click on Properties
- Click on the Servers tab, modify the following settings:
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): out.vcn.bc.ca
- Make sure the Remember password box is checked
- Under Outgoing Mail Server, enter a checkmark in the checkbox beside My server requires authentication
- Click on Settings…
- Select Log on using, then enter the following information:
- Account name: your VCN email address without @vcn.bc.ca
- Password: your VCN password
- Click on OK
- Click on the Advanced tab at the top, modify the following settings:
- Enter a check mark besides This server requires a secure connection (SSL) for both boxes under Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3)
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): 587
- Incoming mail (POP3): 995
- Click on OK.
FOR HIGH-SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION USERS:
If you have a high-speed Internet connection in addition to your VCN account on the same computer and have signed up for the “VCN outbound mail service“, enter
1. The Incoming Server (pop 3)” should be 110
2. Uncheck “The server requires a secure connection (SSL)” check-box
3. The Outgoing server (SMTP) should be 587
4, Uncheck “The server requires a secure connection (SSL)” check-box
5. Click on OK.
