- Open Outlook Express
- On the Menu bar at the top of the Window, click on Tools
- Click on Accounts
- Click on the Mail tab
- Select the your VCN account name from the list to highlight the account
- Click on Properties
- Click on the Servers tab, modify the following settings:
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): out.vcn.bc.ca
- Make sure the Remember password box is checked
- Under Outgoing Mail Server, enter a checkmark in the checkbox beside My server requires authentication
- Click on Settings…
- Select Log on using, then enter the following information:
- Account name: your VCN email address without @vcn.bc.ca
- Password: your VCN password
- Click on OK
- Click on the Advanced tab at the top, modify the following settings:
- Enter a check mark besides This server requires a secure connection (SSL) for both boxes under Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3)
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): 587
- Incoming mail (POP3): 995
- Under Delivery, enter a checkmark in the box next to Leave a copy of messages on server (If you also want to save your emails on your mail server as backup in case your computer breaks and you lose all your emails on the computer)
- Click on OK.
