Vancouver Community Network Board Meeting Minutes - October 24, 2000 Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Vancouver Community Network, Board of Directors, held on Tuesday, October 24, 2000 at 6:30 P.M. in the Boardroom, 411 Dunsmuir Street, Vancouver, BC. Present: Greg Sturk, Sujay Nazareth, Sadia Ramirez, Alison Curtis, Richard Songhurst, Tom Hanson, Lyle Gardiner Staff: Peter Royce, Steven Chan Absent: Penny Goldsmith, Jonn Olldym, Richard Smith, Michael Gurstein, Suzanne Klinga, Jason Currell Guests: Sharlene Smith. Chair: Alison Curtis Secretary: Sujay Nazareth 1. Sharlene introduced herself to the board as a new prospective board member. 2. Adoption of the Agenda, M/S/C. 3. Acceptance of minutes of September 25th, 2000 meeting M/S/C 4. Having the books onsite has been working out very well. A financial audit will be done in November. Move that Draft Financial Statements be Accepted M/S/C The GST refund due to VCN is currently in process. The Auditor has requested copies of all board minutes from June 1999 - August 2000. A summarized copy of VCN's budget will be provided to members at the AGM for their information. 5. Board liability insurance has been purchased Move to authorize $150.00 for a Volunteer party to be held on 14th November M/S/C Move to extend Morgan's employment contract with VCN for another month, while Peter comes back to the board with suggestions on how to best organize the staff for maximum efficiency M/S/C. The Volnet project is slowly getting towards it's target.There are 126 applications in with another 41 anticipated. A total of 63 organizations have been trained to date and 26 installs completed. The first round of the CAP project is over and we have been approved for 7 sites. Langara was not as successful as was first thought. Only 62 memberships were taken out. 6. Motion for VCN to Endorse CAP Champions M/S/C 8. The VCN AGM will be held on November 21, 2000 at 411 Dunsmuir starting at 7:00 PM. It will be preceded by a board meeting at 5:30 PM.
